🥭 Jackfruit / Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus)

The world's largest fruit growing on a tree, with sweet and fragrant flesh.

The jackfruit tree produces enormous fruits that can weigh up to 30 kg, with sweet yellow flesh and a unique taste.


☀️ Light

Full sun. Minimum 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth.

💧 Watering

Water regularly and generously. Keep the soil slightly moist. Reduce watering in winter but do not allow it to dry out completely.

🌡️ Temperature

Ideal temperature: 22-30°C. Minimum temperature: 10°C. Very sensitive to cold. Indoor plant in Quebec, can be moved outdoors in summer.

🌱 Fertilization

Apply a balanced fertilizer every 3-4 weeks in spring and summer. Jackfruit trees are heavy feeders due to their rapid growth.

🪴 Repotting

Every spring for young plants. Large pot required. Rich, well-draining potting soil.

✂️ Size

Prune regularly to control rapid growth and maintain a manageable size in a pot. Tolerates pruning very well.

  • Excessive growth: Prune regularly
  • Falling leaves: Water stress or temperature change
  • Scale insects: Treat with neem oil

🥭 Fruiting

Can produce fruit as early as 3-5 years (grafted varieties). Enormous fruits grow on the trunk and large branches. In pots, the fruits will be smaller but just as delicious.
