🌸 GROWING GUIDE – BRUGMANSIA (Angel Trumpet)
🌼 CULTURE GUIDE – Brugmansias
Brugmansias, also known as angel's trumpets, are spectacular plants with large, fragrant flowers. They grow quickly and thrive in pots.
Repotting
Use a rich potting mix such as Promix HP with light compost. Choose a wide and deep pot, as brugmansias consume a lot of water and nutrients.
Light
They like full sun or light partial shade. In a greenhouse, they grow gigantic.
Watering
Water thoroughly. Brugmansias are heavy feeders, especially in summer. Never let the soil dry out completely. Use lukewarm water.
Fertilizer
Fertilization is essential. Use a 20-20-20 fertilizer or one rich in nitrogen two to three times a week during the summer. This plant is a heavy feeder.
Temperature
Ideal temperature: 18 to 30 °C. It must be protected from frost.
Bloom
Brugmansia flowers several times a season with enough fertilizer, water, and light. The flowers give off an intense fragrance in the evening.
Wintering
Keep it cool, around 10-15°C. Reduce watering. Leaf loss is normal.
Tropico-Québec Advice
More fertilizer = more flowers. Avoid pots that are too small. Prune for a compact shape and continuous flowering.
💡 Winter rest = explosive flowering in spring.
