🌿 GROWING GUIDE – CANNA
🌺 GROWING GUIDE – Tropical Canna
Cannas are spectacular tropical plants grown primarily for their colorful foliage and large, exotic flowers.
Repotting
Use a wide pot filled with Promix HP enriched with light compost. Cannas like fertile, moist soil. Repot in spring.
Light
Full sun is ideal. Cannas also tolerate light partial shade but flower much better in intense light.
Watering
Keep the soil moist. Cannas love plenty of water, especially in summer. Don't let the pot dry out completely.
Fertilizer
Fertilize once or twice a week in summer with a balanced or nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Actisol works very well.
Temperature
They like the heat and grow quickly between 22 and 35 °C.
Bloom
The flowers appear after a few weeks of constant warmth. They are spectacular and long-lasting.
Wintering
Store the rhizomes in a cool, dry place if you are not keeping the cannas in a greenhouse. Indoors, water less.
Tropico-Québec Advice
Cannas love sun, water and rich soil. In a greenhouse, they grow into large clumps.
