Granadilla 'Sweet'

Variety: Sweet (Passiflora ligularis). Type: Potted passionflower.

• The fruit: Round to oval fruit, 6-8 cm, with a hard shell turning yellow-orange when ripe. Inside, translucent gelatinous pulp, sweet and fragrant, around black seeds, less acidic than the purple passion fruit.
• Ideal if: you like passion fruit but prefer it sweet and floral, to eat with a spoon.
• Good to know: vigorous vine: plan a support (trellis) and pruning to keep it in a pot. Eat only fully ripe fruit.
• Size & habit: vigorous tropical vine, to grow in a pot with support, in Quebec, sheltered from frost.
• Relative hardiness: not hardy in Quebec; grow in a pot, always sheltered from frost.
• Size received: 1 plant in a 10" pot.
• Availability: pre-order; delivery or pickup in May-June 2027. Limited quantity.

Care sheet - Growing in Quebec

• Light: Full sun 6-8 hours per day (south window, greenhouse, or outdoors in summer after acclimatization).
• Growing medium: Very well-draining potting mix, such as Pro-Mix HP or similar, with a little perlite.
• Watering: Let the top of the mix dry between waterings; avoid letting water stand in the cachepot.
• Fertilizer: Fruit-tree fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season.
• Temperature: Bring the plant indoors before nights drop below 5 °C; never expose to frost.
• Overwintering: Very bright room, cool to temperate; reduced watering but without letting the mix dry out completely.
