Why choose this variety?
Red Dacca attracts attention with reddish tones on its pseudostem, petioles and fruit. Strong light and full ripeness intensify the colour.
- Red-skinned fruit becoming more golden when fully ripe.
- Sweet, creamy orange flesh.
- Decorative pseudostem and petioles.
- Suitable for a large container in cold climates.
Banana flavour
When fully ripe, the orange flesh is sweet, creamy and highly aromatic. Allow the fruit to ripen completely for its best texture and richness.
How to keep the plant more compact in a container
- Repot gradually instead of moving directly into an oversized container.
- Limit the final container size reasonably, recognizing that this can reduce fruit production.
- Provide abundant light, avoid excess nitrogen and remove unnecessary suckers.
Important: do not cut the top off the pseudostem to reduce height; this removes its growing point.
Growing in Quebec and other cold-winter regions
- Light: full sun or a very bright location, ideally 6 to 8 hours or more.
- Temperature: optimal growth between 20 and 32°C (68 to 90°F); bring indoors before temperatures fall below 10°C (50°F).
- Watering: keep the growing medium slightly moist during active growth without standing water.
- Growing medium: rich, airy and very well draining.
- Fertilization: feed regularly during active growth.
